Don't Let Congress Weaken the Gas Price Gouging Bill
Contact the FCC to Open The Wireless Spectrum II
Contact the FCC to Open The Wireless Spectrum
SavetheInternet.com wants you to contact the FCC. The FCC is on the verge of turning over a large chunk of the public airwaves to the same giant phone and cable companies that control high-speed Internet access for 96 percent of American home users. Don't let the FCC turn over these airwaves to the same price-gouging network giants that control wired access. We need a new alternative to DSL and cable. The FCC must use this wireless opportunity to connect more Americans to an open, neutral and accessible Internet. Labels: Corporate Reform, Media Bias, save the internet
Sign a Petition Asking Congress to Pass the Gas Price-gouging Bill
Moveon.org wants you to sign a petition to your Representative that "Gasoline price gouging should be made a federal crime before the summer price increases hurt more American families." Speaker Pelosi has said she'll move the bill to a vote this week—if there's the two-thirds majority required to fast track the bill through the process. Save Internet Radio
Free Press wants you to contact your representative to support legislation which will roll back exponential increases — by as much as 1,200 percent — in royalties paid every time webcasters stream a song online.
If these unfair rules are allowed to go into effect on May 15, many public, independent and smaller Internet radio stations will have to shut down. Labels: Corporate Reform
Send a Message to Urge the SEC to Support Proxy Access
The Working Families Network (WFN) wants you to Send this message to:
- SEC Chairman Christopher Cox
- cc: Representative Barney Frank
- cc: Senator Chris Dodd
By allowing long-term shareholders to nominate directors and requiring companies to include these nominees on the company's proxy ballot ("proxy access"), the SEC can end the self-perpetuating system that permits incumbent boards to hand-pick director candidates, making boards truly accountable to shareholders.
